How to Cook Samyang Buldak 2x Spicy: An Easy Step-by-Step Guide

For people like me, who have low tolerance for spicy food but want to eat Samyang Buldak, it’s impossible; even a small portion of the spicy sauce tastes too strong, or even if I drink a lot of milk, it stays in my mouth, and I would definitely cry and drool because of the spice. But that changed when I discovered the perfect way to prepare Samyang Buldak so it’s spicy, flavorful, and actually enjoyable.

Buldak, also known as Korean spicy chicken noodles, is one of my favorite quick meals when I want something spicy, flavorful, and easy to prepare. Even if you are new to cooking, making a bowl of Buldak is pretty simple. Here is my easy guide on how to cook it at home.

What You Need

Before starting, prepare the following ingredients:

  • 1 pack of Buldak noodles
  • 2 cups of water
  • The included spicy sauce
  • The included dried toppings
  • Quickmelt cheese or any cheese
  • Milk
  • Optional: egg, seaweed, onions, ham, or bacon, and other ingredients you want to add for flavor

Optional Toppings

You can add different toppings depending on what you like. Cheese can help make the noodles creamier, while an egg can make the meal more filling, and add spring onions or sesame seeds for extra flavor.

How to Cook Buldak

1. Boil the Water

Pour about two cups of water into a pot and bring it to a boil. Make sure there is enough water to fully cook the noodles.

2. Add the Noodles

Once the water is boiling, carefully add the Buldak noodles. Let them cook for around 4–5 minutes, or follow the cooking time written on your specific package.

3. Drain the Water

After the noodles are cooked, drain most of the water. You can leave a small amount of water in the pot if you prefer your Buldak to have a slightly saucier consistency.

4. Add the Spicy Sauce

Put the noodles back into the pot and add the included spicy sauce. Mix everything together until the sauce is evenly distributed throughout the noodles.

Tip: If you are not used to spicy food, start with only part of the sauce and add more according to your taste.

5. Add the Milk

Add half a capful of milk to the noodles (add more depending on what you prefer) and mix well. Then, add a slice of cheese and stir until it melts completely. The milk and cheese help make the noodles creamier and tone down the spiciness.

Tip: Lower the heat of the fire while mixing it.

5. Add the Toppings

Add the dried toppings that came with the noodles. You can also add your own toppings, such as egg, bacon or ham, or spring onions.

Tip: Leave it on low heat until the cheese melts.

6. Mix and Serve

Mix the noodles one last time and transfer them to a bowl or you can eat them directly. Your Buldak is now ready to eat!

My Favorite Way to Eat Buldak

Personally, I like adding cheese and an egg because they make the noodles creamier and balance out some of the spiciness. You can experiment with different toppings until you find your favorite combination.

When I first discovered how to cook Buldak that is less spicy and tastes like Carbonara Buldak, I grew to crave it, and this is now my favorite way to cook it.

Make It Your Own

The best thing about Buldak is that you can customize it. If you want it less spicy, use less sauce. If you want something more filling, add vegetables, meat, or an egg.

Also, a good way to enjoy my Buldak is to have chocolate and milk on the side to help balance out the spiciness. Try it now and let me know your thoughts and experience.
